Analytical Figure Drawing
Here is a link I came across this week of numerous sketches of the human form. Today in class, we all agreed how difficult it is to include people in our drawings. Understanding the underlying structure and viewing the way experienced artists sketch human body parts can help us when developing our own sketches. As we learned from our hand drawings in class last week, every object can be broken down into shapes that enable us to create a more proportional sketch. I found the line qualities in these sketches particularly interesting. You can see where the artist laid down his original lines in pencil, and then layered pen on top to enhance the shape, boldness and depth.
