Some people may think that you can not take good quality pictures without an expensive DLSR camera. However, digital cameras can take really great pictures when properly used. I use a small point-and-shoot too, and I don't think my images are affected very much by the fact that I'm using a smaller, cheaper camera. I absolutely agree that you have to know your camera well to take great pictures. I remember sitting down and pressing basically every button on my camera to find out the functions! :) (and reading a few pages of the manual..)
